In this review, we’ll be taking a look at the HM311. An outdoor security camera at a low price point that might just be perfect for somebody looking for a security system on a low budget.
Quality
Reasonable video and audio quality for the price,
Considering the features and quality of the build, the HM311 is fairly priced.

App Security: The HeimLink app lacks two-factor authentication (2FA).
No Hotswap: You can’t insert a micro SD card while the camera is powered-on
Unboxing the Heimvision HM311
We didn’t have to wait long for the HM311 as HeimVision shipped it quickly.
The product came packaged in a standard outer postal cardboard with minimal internal packaging. Some improvements could be made to the postage to better protect the camera and prevent damage to the product.
Inside the box we found:
- 1 X 3MP UHD Wi-Fi Outdoor Camera : Appears at first glance to be of a high quality material and feels quite sturdy for a camera in the price range.
- 1 X Power Adapter: Which is relatively short, for most security systems you’ll need an extension. Also appears to be quite low quality.
- 1 X 5dB Wifi Antenna: Which is believed to help in producing more sustanability commonly found with 2.4GHz connections.
- 1 X Pack of Screws and Wall Anchors: Including a few spares which is always apreciated.
- 1 X Ethernet Cable: Cat 5e standard.
- 1 X Waterproof Lid: Which should prevent water damage and moisture build up.
- 1 X Quick Start Guide: Which includes some English and pictures that will prove useful during set up.
The Warranty
We were impressed by HeimVision’s comprehensive warranty for the HM311. If you aren’t satsified with the quality of your HM311 you can recieve a full refund provided you make the request within the first three months. In addition, Heimvision is clearly confident with the duarability of their devices boasting a two year limited warranty on top of this very reasonable refund policy.
Installation Review
The installation and setup of HM311 is relatively easy, even for beginners! Even without the instalattion guide, the HM311 is a very popular device with plenty of installation/set up guides online.
The setup is just as simple because, unlike other security camera manufacturers, Heim Vision uses its own app, HeimLink.
All you have to do is install it from the Google Play or Apple Store and create an account.
The app is well apraised by android users with an average ratting of 4.3 out of 5 stars and over 10,000 installations. Provided that you use an android device that uses Android 4.4 software or above, HeimLink is the perfect choice.
Unfortuantely, the same can’t be said for the IOS users. The IOS HeimLink app is still quite buggy, with an average ratting of 3.6 stars. We cannot currently recomend the software to iPhone or Ipad users, however heimvision regularly performance mainteance to their app so we imagine that all of these bugs will be fixed in the near future.
